This past weekend was the 5th annual Tryon Beer Fest in beautiful downtown Tryon, NC. The weather, sunny and 69, was as splendid as the beer offerings. I jumped in my truck and proceeded up the short drive to the tiny mountain town. This was my second year in a row attendeding. The beer list this year was to tempting to pass up. I like attending these small festivals because you don’t have to wait in line. So I was off!
I started with the Sanctuary Brewing tent. This is a new brewery located just up the road in Hendersonville, NC. I went here for the first time back in August for my birthday. Something came up later that week for me so I forgot to let everyone know how this place was. Awesome! Highly recommend checking it out. The offerings I really enjoyed by them were their Carolina Reaper Madness IPA and Hop Pig IPA. The next tent over was Bhramari Brewhouse, a new brewery located in Asheville, NC. I spoke to the brewer and enjoyed their Lorelai IPA and a very interesting Molly’s Lips Black Gose. Can’t say that I’ve had anything like that before but it was tasty. Sitting next to these new and upstart breweries was a local favorite, Wicked Weed Brewing. Even though I’ve had their Pernicious IPA and Freak of Nature Double IPA many times before I wasn’t about to walk by without drinking both again.
After speaking with a few visitors, some as far as New York, I had plans later on in the day so I had to wrap up the event sooner than I would have liked. So onto the rest of the winners for me. These included Birdsong Brewing Wake Up Porter, Appalachian Mountain Brewery Daniel’s Double IPA, and Thomas Creek Brewery Trifecta IPA.
As long as this small beer fest keeps getting great beers to this event, you can count on me attending. This wraps up the beer festival year for us here at Beer-South until 2017. We can’t wait.
Cheers!
Jason
